Help a Homeless Family
Donation protected
Please help!
While walking home last night my husband and I came across a homeless family with two autistic kids (mom 31, grandma late 60s, little boy 9, and little girl 4). Due to their situation I can’t disclose much information.
The family was pushing a stroller down the street filled with duffel bags and their belongings. With the children bundled in blankets .
We approached them to find out what was going on and they informed us that they’ve landed on tough times when the mom lost her job and they’ve all been sleeping on the streets since January.
We were able to get them a room for the night but do not have plans here on out. I’m reaching out to everyone I can think of to find shelter for them and now this gofundme to help put towards basic necessities, an apartment, and future rent and bills until they get back on their feet.
Anything will help, thank you!
*UPDATE* 5-14-25
For those that have donated we wanted to provide an update.
The gofundme.com funds have not been touched at this point and we are working with private donations at the moment.
The family was given $325 cash this evening to cover a hotel room , hotel deposit and dinner for the night.
The cash was immediately deposited into the women’s bank account to pay for the hotel room.
Hotel room was $189.50, the hotels refundable deposit was $100, and the additional $35.50 was given to the family so they could get something for dinner .
After reaching out to community leaders and individuals we have several people working on finding this family shelter and aid . The Mom has a couple job opportunities as well. We also have an individual working on finding permanent residence. For this reason we are leaving the gofundme money in place as we may need it to support their start in a permanent residence.
The money that’s being used to pay for the hotel room tonight is money that was sourced from a private donor and they’ll be notified of how it was spent .
For everyone that’s offered help in any way, we thank you and this family thanks you!
*UPDATE #2* 5-15-25
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to send out a quick update and thank you again for all the support — it’s truly making a difference
Since our last message, some really positive things have started to happen. A few local charity programs have reached out and are now working directly with the family to help with shelter, basic needs, and longer-term solutions. We’re really grateful for the extra hands and hearts jumping in to help.
Also, some exciting news — the mom has a job interview lined up for Monday morning! This could be a big step forward for her and her kids, and we’re all rooting for her.
As mentioned before, the GoFundMe funds are still untouched for now. We’re holding onto that money to help when they’re ready to move into more permanent housing — whether that means covering a deposit, rent, or basic furniture. In the meantime, immediate needs like hotel stays and meals are being covered by private donations, and we’re keeping those donors in the loop as well.
Thanks again to everyone who’s donated, shared, or simply offered support. It’s incredible to see what a caring community can do together.

Update regarding family in need
For the past few nights, we’ve been able to keep the family safe in a hotel, thanks to the donations many of you have generously given. A couple of the nights were spent at a hotel charging around $176 per night, and the family has since moved to another hotel that costs about $145 per night.
The remaining donation funds will cover their stay through Monday night.
After that, if there’s no further developments in permanent housing we’ll be looking at centers that provide tented shelters with no indoor plumbing or hot water .
If the shelter is the route this family ends up having to take , my wife and I will continue to support them by covering transportation to work, bus passes, help with groceries, and basic necessities—all out of pocket. We’re happy to do it, but we’ll also gladly accept any help through continued donations.
All private donors will get proof of how their donation is spent .
The GoFundMe funds will remain untouched until the family is ready to move into permanent housing. At that time, we’ll use those resources for things like a security deposit, first and last month’s rent, basic furniture, and utility setup—everything needed to help this mom and her family start fresh.
Thank you again to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far. Your kindness has made a real difference!
