83 West's Hurricane Helene Recovery
Donation protected
So many friends have contacted us about helping financially for damages from Hurricane Helene.
Because many of you are not local or can't lend a hand physically, you asked us to create this page for contributions.
Jordan and Shannon have poured their hearts and souls into becoming a vital part of this community and to make dining at their restaurant a beautiful experience.
Unfortunately, like other buildings over the water, flood insurance is unavailable to 83 West. The damages are overwhelming, and seeing their history of 8 years unfold in such a way is heartbreaking.
UPDATE FROM SHANNON AND JORDAN:
Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene has damaged all of the major utilities of the building, as most of them were located on the first level of the building. We also lost our bathrooms, bar, kitchen, beer tap system, fire system, walk in cooler etc.
It is truly a daunting task, but after much consideration, we have decided to move forward with doing all we can to bring 83 West back to Cedar Key and Dock Street.
This will likely be a lengthy and costly process, but along with engineers we have formulated some great plans to make 83 West bigger and better than ever. We are determined to exhaust every option we have to one day, have our dream restaurant back in business. We know that it will be our biggest test to date, but we feel that we owe it to all of our supporters.
We are blessed to have so many friends, family, customers who have become friends and like family, and we owe it to everyone who has believed in us and donated to our recovery over these past 8 years. Everything, literally everything we have is invested in this restaurant, and we just don’t have the heart to let our dream go without a fight.
As most know, our building is uninsurable for flood and windstorm insurance, so all of our repairs are once again coming out of our pockets. We are going to take the time to thoughtfully and strategically make needed changes to mitigate all flood risks in the future. This means we will most likely be closed for 6-9 months, or more. We just ask for your patience in this time of recovery, and we hope to see everyone again soon.
Thank you again
