Dear Friends ,

A really horrible thing has happened to someone in our community and help is urgently required.

Charlene and her mother Carol (who is 83 )were evicted by the Sherriff on May 24. 

They had been paying the rent to their brother/son as his name was on the lease. Unbeknownst to them he had been stealing the money and not paying the landlord for 15 months. 

Charlene and Carol had no idea that this was happening, as they had trusted him to be sure his Family  had a home.  Instead he lied and stole from them for all that time and had his 83 year old Mother and his Sister removed from their home :( 

 They were in absolute shock as the Sherriff told them they had 20 minutes to pack a bag, grab medications and get out. They are both understandably devastated by the situation. 

They had to spend almost $4000 to get storage, and movers in less than 72 hours, 

 it drained all the money and credit they had left .

They are currently staying in Charlene's daughters 1 bedroom apt in Toronto on the couch and an air mattress. 

Carol is 83, and has ongoing health issues , difficulty seeing while awaiting cataract surgery.She is also still recovering from hip replacement surgery, and has an ankle ulcer that has been very challenging to heal, Carol requiries wound care treatment and she has had hyperbaric oxygen session 3 times in the last year. 

What they need:

They need housing!  Immediately need  assistance for 1st and last months rent, movers, and will need funds  to restock everything for their food supply. They had to abandon a lot of furniture, and personal things due to the sudden move, limited storage space, and they had very limited time and help to pack as much as they could. 

Charlene is on ODSP, is severely hearing impaired and is disabled as well.

 She runs a very small business, which she is unable to operate or work in the current situation, and has been caregiving full time for her mom over the last year. 

This has happened at a very difficult time in their lives, they  need all the help and support they can get right now .
