2-WEEK update: 82-yr-old injured Ajijic man still needs help

(This fundraiser is being organized by Cathy Austill and Deb Tolar. Please read through to the end for contribution details)

2-Week Update:

We are only at about 35% of our goal (noted in Pesos) to raise money for Ron's medical bill and we are one week away from having to pay that hospital/doctor bill.

Thank you to everybody who has supported Ron as he continues to recover from the accident in Ajijic on June 18. Two weeks later, he is still recovering at Casa Zoe. Ron's surgeries are still healing, and he has very limited strength and mobility.

His loss of independence and complete reliance on neighbors and strangers is not something he is used to. Ron's new "normal" is probably going to look very different - at least for a while.

Despite some mis-leading stories that have been "reported" on the front page of a local "news" paper - Ron was hit by a car while crossing the Carretera on his motorized scooter. The accident resulted in many physical and physiological injuries, and unexpected debt.

Ron was discharged from Hospital SA on Saturday June 21 but still owes the hospital $201,031.44 pesos - by July 12, 2025.

We are asking for donations to help cover his outstanding hospital/doctor bill. Additional funds will cover associated banking fees, post-op care and home-care medical devices he needs.

• Donations can also be made to Cathy Austill, Deb Tolar or any Villa Formoso resident; or to Steve Cross at Fenix Realty in San Antonio Tlayacapan. We are managing the funds on behalf of Ron.

Note: The fundraising goal is in PESOS. Please enter the amount you’d like to donate in PESOS ($1 USD is roughly 19 Pesos; $100 USD is roughly $1,917 Pesos) You will be charged the equivalent of that amount in your own currency. GoFundMe does not charge conversion fees, but your bank may.
