Sergeant Bob Spohn, a name well known throughout Texas Law Enforcement and more specifically Tarrant County. Sergeant Spohn is known as a man of both integrity and courage. He has laid his life on the line countless times and does not hesitate to put the wellbeing of others before his own. For more than 38 years Sergeant Spohn has served both his country and his community by giving his time in both the military and in law enforcement. During those years he has been recognized seven times with life saving awards and holds numerous commendations for his acts of service. At present Sergeant Spohn works as an agency within Tarrant County serving as the training coordinator, program manager for the accreditation program and the dispatch supervisor.
Recently Sergeant Spohn was diagnosed with a rare disease known as Cervical Dystonia. Cervical Dystonia causes involuntary muscle contractions in the neck and back resulting in extreme contortions of the body. A description of the pain associated with Cervical Dystonia is that of the muscles being torn from the bone. Throughout his time in both the military and law enforcement Sergeant Spohn has suffered numerous injuries in his back, shoulders, knees and ankles. The combination of these injuries caused an improper brain response which triggered Cervical Dystonia. This response has caused the trapezius and mastoid muscles in his neck to contract at 100% contractile force leaving him not only in extreme pain but also with an extreme light sensitivity. Due to the stress this has placed on his body he is unable to work at this time.
There is a surgery available that could save his life however it is very expensive. Due to the lengthy amount of time he has been out of work and the fact that his wife is handicap and unable to work, their funds have run out and he is not able to afford the surgery needed. Any amount given helps bring Sergeant Spohn a little closer towards healing and a little closer to being back to his agency doing what he loves. Would you please consider being a part of saving the life of one who has saved the lives of so many others.
