Help the McKinneys Recover and Rebuild
We’re sharing this today with heavy hearts on behalf of Don and Pam McKinney, a family going through more than any one household should ever have to bear.
Don recently underwent open heart surgery—a serious operation that marked the beginning of what was meant to be a long but hopeful recovery.
But just a few days after surgery, everything changed.
Their son, Michael “Skinny” McKinney, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
Michael was a father of three—Skyler (14), Kaylee (12), and Kaitlyn (10)—who are now left without their dad and trying to make sense of a world that changed overnight. His celebration of life will be held Friday, June 27th.
Pam McKinney shared this about her son:
“Michael ‘Skinny’ McKinney’s children — son Skyler (14), daughters Kaylee (12) and Kaitlyn (10) — were his world. Michael was a loving son, brother, husband, and a fantastic dad. He always had a huge smile and a wave for everyone he met. No person was a stranger to Michael.”
Before Don could even begin to process this loss or recover physically, more tragedy followed.
A few days later, another son, David McKinney, and his wife were hit by a drunk driver. Both are now in the ICU, fighting for their lives.
David is also a father—his three children, Jayden, Maleeyah, and Daitlyn, are now anxiously waiting while their parents remain in critical condition.
And as if that weren’t enough, just days ago, Don and Pam also lost Don’s sister. Three crushing losses—a son, a sister, and the near-loss of another son and daughter-in-law—all within a two-week span.
It’s hard to put into words how much pain this family is carrying right now.

Why We’re Asking for Help
Don is recovering from major heart surgery.
He and Pam are now preparing for their son’s funeral.
They’re checking hospital updates hourly for David and his wife.
And they’re trying to be present for six grandchildren who need love, stability, and reassurance after the unthinkable.
There are funeral costs, ICU medical bills, and basic living expenses that don’t pause during trauma.
They’ve never asked for help. But now, they need it.
