Update: Luna is recovering well. I have a payment plan in place to pay for her surgery. We were able to find a vet clinic in Indiana that was able to complete the surgery for $4,649.81 with the payment plan mentioned above. She has a few post op appointments but over all she is doing well. I also used my Dads credit card to pay for her initial appointment at the emergency vet (MedVet). All the money that is raised goes straight to paying for her care.
Thank you to all of you who have donated
from Luna and family
Hi, my name is Damaris, and I’m asking for help for my sweet dog, Luna.
Luna was shot by a person in front of our home. The bullet shattered her knee and part of her thigh bone, leaving her in severe pain and unable to walk. This was a completely unexpected and heartbreaking to our family.
After emergency evaluations, we were told that Luna will need a leg amputation in order live a pain-free life. Without this surgery, her suffering will continue and her condition could worsen quickly. She needs this surgery as soon as possible.
The cost of the surgery has been quoted between $5,000 and $8,000, which includes the procedure, hospitalization, medications, and recovery care. I am actively looking for alternatives and additional options, but time is critical, and the expenses are overwhelming.
Luna is more than just a dog — she’s family. She’s loving, gentle, and full of life, and she deserves a chance to heal and continue living happily, even as a tripod. Dogs adapt incredibly well after amputations, and with this surgery, Luna can still have a long, joyful life.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Luna’s surgery and medical care. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser — it truly helps more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, caring, and supporting Luna during this devastating time.
