Help Families Affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica
By now, you've all seen the devastation Hurricane Melissa has left behind in Jamaica. Families are hungry, homeless, heartbroken and in desperate need of support and I want to help.
Who am I?
I'm Kedasha, I’m from Spanish Town, Jamaica — a born and raised Yaadie. I work in tech as a software developer/developer advocate and have the privilege of safety, food and shelter.
Thankfully, my family in Jamaica is safe in the aftermath, but many families on the western side of the island were not as fortunate. Many families are without homes, food and basic necessities and need our help now more than ever.
Why now?
Next week, I'll be traveling to Jamaica and, in partnership with trusted locals on the ground, we’re launching a short but impactful campaign to directly support real families in need. Every dollar collected will go directly to the people, not to administrative costs.
We’ll share updates, photos, and videos so you can see exactly how your contribution is making a difference.
⏰ Campaign Dates:
Now through Sunday, November 9th
After the campaign:
We’ll shop, pack, ship and distribute supplies to families - essentials they desperately need to keep living.
How fund will be used - funds will be used to purchase items like:
- toiletries
- non-perishable food items
- tarps and ropes
- camping/sleeping bags
- flashlights
- water
- candles and flashlights
- batteries
- clothes (kids and adults)
- solar powered tech
- medical and first aid supplies
- Hygiene and personal care items
- Manual can openers
- water purifying tablets
- tools (hammer, nails, tape, etc)
- diapers, wipes, baby clothes, etc
- barrels & packing supplies
Please consider donating today and helping us bring hope and relief to those who need it most.
❤️ Every bit counts. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Please share this campaign with your network so we can reach our goal.
