Miles for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness
I will be hitting the pavement for a great cause as well as for my cousin Victoria. Starting with the Big D Marathon in April, I will be running at least one 1/2 marathon for the next 3 month while raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.
As I take on this challenge over the next 3 months, I will be raising donations for each race. You can help by donating a minimum of $5 dollars to put a love one's name or an inspirational word on a ribbon. This ribbon will help me push through the pain. Your ribbon will be mailed back to you as a keepsake. In partnership with Dallas Fraternal Order of Eagles all funds raised will be donated to the Jimmy Durante Children's Fund - Blue Caboose Children's Fund.
For those of you who don't know, the Blue Caboose has been a great asset to Victoria and many families living with Cystic Fibrosis at Children's Medical Center Dallas. With your help we can all be a part in helping families with Cystic Fibrosis.
About Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

"We started the Blue Caboose Children's Fund (BCCF) to help children and families living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), because we know firsthand what life with this disease is like.
Through public education and raising community awareness, we raise money to assist families with back-to-school assistance, a toy drive at Christmas, and Caboose Comfort totes with a first admission. We also formed a parent network to build a strong community of parents, families and friends who can support each other, lend an ear, and more. As we grow, we hope to assist CF families with everyday costs-like groceries, travel, and home expenses-that can quickly add up while a loved one is receiving treatment.
As a newly established nonprofit, we are currently serving families in our area at the Cystic Fibrosis Care Center at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. We hope to expand to other hospitals and areas in the future."
Thank you for hopping on board the Blue Caboose.
