One Person, One Loop, One Goal.
This year, I'm spending my birthday walking/running 80km to raise money for:
- Voice of Albertans with Disabilities Society
- Inclusion Alberta
Where: Storm Pond off 212 Ave SE, Seton, Calgary
Each lap is -0.8km - that's 100 laps around the pond (and no, I haven't been training for this)
When: Friday, July 12 (my birthday!)
Starting early - going until I hit 80km!
WHY I'M DOING THIS:
May 12, 2025: It was reported that the upcoming Canada Disability Benefit, launching in July 2025, would provide up to $200/month to eligible Canadians with disabilities
May 2025: Alberta’s UCP government announced it would claw back the full $200/month from AISH recipients’ provincial payments - unlike other provinces, which exempt this federal benefit
Alberta also removed $49 million from the AISH budget ahead of the new federal benefit, cutting support in anticipation of the clawback
So I'm putting my feet to work to raise money, awareness, and support.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Donate to one or both organizations
- Come cheer me on or walk a lap with me
- Share this with others who care
Let's stand up (and walk) for inclusion and dignity
Every dollar and every step matters.
FOR EVERY DOLLAR DONATED, I WILL PERSONALLY MATCH UP TO $500.
