80 Families Lost Everything - Philippines - Help

Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Angela Bryant-Ryden. I am 47 years old, a mother of 2, and a Filipina-American living in Sweden. I am of Filipino Heritage and American Nationality. This is my first ever GoFundMe Fundraiser Campaign. I humbly ask for your help.

On Thursday, December 16th, 2021, Typhoon Rai (also known as Odette in the Philippines tracking system) devastated much of the Southern Philippine Islands. Over 140 are believed to be dead, thousands missing, and hundreds of thousands evacuated to shelters. Search and rescue efforts are still underway.

My family and entire local village is severely affected. They live in Bindoy, Negros Oriental, 4 hours from Cebu and 2 hours from Dumaguete City, and I am raising money for emergency supplies and housing repair and rebuild. I have direct contact and access to people in need on the ground. These people are my family plus 80 local families of approx four people.

It is a national emergency in desperate need of food, water, and shelter (repair).

As you can imagine, this is a very personal request. With my entire being and my whole aching heart, I ask for help in the form of donations to direct this to people in immediate need. Thank you.

So many people are affected. My family has lost their entire homes and livelihood. Our traditional ancestral bamboo homes, shanty (slum style) homes, and all the native houses, occupied by my aunties and cousins, have collapsed or washed away thoroughly. Many have been safely evacuated or have chosen to stay nearby in unliveable conditions.

It is heartbreaking. The people of this area are known as "the gentle people," and although they are incredibly resilient and simple people, they desperately need help.

As you research this terrible natural disaster, you will read about many villages and commercial areas throughout the Southern Philippine Islands in a state of total calamity. Please help if you can help.

REQUEST: I am requesting donations from 8 USD to 100 USD.
7,50 USD feeds a family of 4 people for 1 week. 30 USD feeds a family of 4 people for 4 weeks

Your donation will go directly to 80 local families of 4 people each. Pictures below. Your donations will be used on the following items. Also, every 10 days, i will send a progress report including photos and the names of the families and individuals YOU are helping.

Donations will be used for the following:

1) 2400 USD = 4 weeks of food, water, produce for 80 families of 4 people each. That is 30 USD p/family.
(602 USD = 30,000 PHP Pesos = 5500 SEK)

  • Cost is 7,50 USD p/family x 80 families w/ 4 people x 1 week = 602 USD
  • Cost is 30 USD p/family x 80 families w/ 4 people x 4 weeks = 2400 USD
  • Each family will receive the following each week, for 4 weeks (or until the money runs out)
  • 2 Kilos of rice, weekly
  • 3 Kilos of produce and food essentials, weekly

ABOUT ME, ANGELA:
  • My relationship to the person (s) I am raising money for are my family members and 80 local village families of Bindoy, Negros Oriental. Together with my mother and family, I have been coordinating, funding, or participating in humane and compassionate relief efforts in the Philippines for 30+ years. For many who grow up in the line of service, or those raised by immigrant parents who in turn support their poverty stricken families abroad, it is a quiet and dutiful labor of love. For natural reasons, I support those in Bindoy, Tinaogen, Cebu and Dumaguete City area, as I have a reliable and trustworthy network of people on the ground. Simple people. Kind people. Humble people. All working together to help others directly in need. No middle man.
