Hello, my name is Pamela-Faith Jackson and I am part of a circle of friends, colleagues, and longtime admirers of the legendary choreographer, director, producer, and cultural icon George Faison.
We created this campaign as a birthday gift in honor of George’s 80th year—a moment to celebrate him, uplift him, and help ensure that the extraordinary body of work he has built over six decades is preserved, protected, and remembered. This fundraiser is organized independently by George Faison supporters.
“80 for 80” is a simple birthday gift concept:
If 80 people (or more) give in honor of George’s 80th birthday, we can help safeguard his archive and strengthen the foundation for the next chapter of his legacy.
Any amount—$8, $18, $80, 800 or more—is a meaningful gesture of gratitude for an artist who has given his life to culture, community, and creative excellence.
In honor of George Faison’s 80th birthday, we are raising funds to:
- Preserve and organize his massive artistic archive (photos, choreography notes, designs, scripts, recordings, programs, and rare historical materials)
- Document and celebrate his life, artistry, and impact through future storytelling, interviews, and commemorative projects
- Ensure that his contributions are recognized and accessible to future dancers, scholars, students, and fans
This is a birthday gift — not a tax-deductible donation. All funds will go directly toward supporting George Faison and the preservation of his artistic legacy.
George Faison is a trailblazer:
- First African American to win a Tony Award for his spectacular choreography of The Wiz
- A visionary who shaped American dance, theater, and storytelling
- A mentor and cultural architect who has opened doors for generations
Turning 80 is a milestone worth honoring with intention and gratitude. Give A Gift of Love, Legacy, and Appreciation:
- If George’s work has ever inspired you…
- If his choreography moved you…
- If his leadership opened doors for you…
- If his artistry shaped a chapter of your life…
This is a moment to give a flower back.
Thank you for celebrating George Faison’s 80th birthday with us and helping protect the legacy of a giant whose work has transformed American culture.
My journey has always been a dance—full of turns, lifts, falls, recoveries, and moments of pure joy shared with audiences, students, and friends. Thank you for letting my work touch your lives. Your support now is a blessing that allows me to continue creating. --George Faison
