Hiya!
We’re super excited to invite you to be a part of the creation of our sweet sapphic film, 8 Ball. A 10-minute joyous coming-of-age film celebrating love, friendship and self-acceptance in a distinctly Australian context.
24-year-old Gracie is fed up with modern dating, but a routine game of pool with her best friend threatens to unmask parts of her identity she has yet to grapple with.
Written and directed by UTS Media Arts and Production Student Jasmin Williams, 8 Ball is an ode to the pure and electric joy of queerness. She was inspired to create this story to bring positive and gushy queer love to the screen, evoking that same sickly sweet feeling that comes with a first crush, or even first kiss. For Jasmin, this story is centred on the security and community that comes with growing into a fully realised version of yourself, a version of yourself you never thought you’d be comfortable enough to share with others: a version of yourself willing to love loudly and unabashedly.
We can’t bring this story to life without YOU! We’re raising funds to cover the essential costs of production - from equipment, transport, and feeding our crew, to production design, post-production, and (fingers crossed) festival submissions! Every contribution, big or small, helps us turn this passion project into a reality.
As a token of our gratitude, every named contribution before 1 January 2026 will be featured in our credits as a thank you for supporting the project!
Thank you!
Sadie Torma
Producer, 8-Ball
