My best friend, Aylin and I are in the middle of our first semester at Tulsa Community College. I've had the blessing to know her since 6th grade, and since then, I remember her dream being a part of the medical field. Over the years, I have seen her caring heart go out for anyone in need, including furry friends. She has always done her best in school and has had passing grades even with outside-of-school struggles. She's gotten this far through commitment, late nights, and a lot of sacrifice, and it pains me to see something out of her control threaten to take that all away. Her mother, Judith Lopez brought her here for better education and a better life and she's at risk of losing it all.

With the new law passing, they are requiring her to pay as much as someone out of state would, which is double the original amount, also not allowing payment plans. Because of her undocumented status, she didn't qualify for most aids or loans in the first place, and now the cost is just too much to handle on her own. By donating, you're not only helping cover tuition and fees, but also investing in someone who has shown nothing but dedication, courage, and the desire to give back to her community. Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings her one step closer to completing her education and achieving the opportunities she's worked so hard for.
