Hello,
My name is Steve Posin. I am Project Manager with Whelan Security providing service for Hughes Network Systems in Maryland. I have had the pleasure of working with Pam Carter for the last 3 years when I took this position. From day one Pam has shown herself to be caring, hardworking, and reliable. Pam started at Hughes in 2011 and immediately captured the hearts of her coworkers and clients. Most people that know Pam would describe her as a kind soul, who is always there whether you need help or just someone to talk to.
Pam has always been one to serve her country and community. In 1979 she joined the United States Air Force. After her military service she worked as a corrections officer in San Antonio, Texas for 3 years. After that Pam moved home to Washington, D.C. She then worked as a corrections officer in Prince Georges County, MD for the next 11 years. Following that she worked another 4 years in Howard County, MD. Pam got into private security in 2005 and has been providing exceptional service ever since.
As some of you know Pam has spent the last few years caring for her elderly mother who suffered from dementia and father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Both the physical and financial burden of this took a large toll on Pam’s life. This year Pam’s mother became very ill. At the very same time Pam began to lose weight at an unhealthy rate. Most of us, including myself attributed this to depression, due to her mother’s condition.
In August of this year Pam’s mother passed away. After a few months Pam seemed to be getting better mentally, however her weight continued to drop. Over the last year she has lost a staggering 130 pounds. More recently Pam began to experience pain in her abdomen. Unfortunately with the financial struggles of supporting her parents she was unable to afford health insurance and tried to ignore the weight loss and pain she was experiencing. Last week that pain became so unbearable that she found herself in the emergency room. Pam left the ER with a mind shattering diagnosis. The doctors told her that a CT scan had found cancer in her rectum, stomach, spine, and lungs.
Pam, being the person she is, is handling this diagnosis unbelievably well. Unfortunately her pain level and prescriptions are keeping her from working. As you can imagine Pam's medical bills will be extremely costly. Not to mention that her everyday bills will continue to roll in. I realize that not everyone is in a position to help, but if you can, please reach into your heart and do what you are able, to help this kind soul.
Thank you all for your time and God bless,
Steve
