Help Haley Heal
Donation protected
Backstory:
My dog, Haley - my 12-year-old best friend - was lost and missing in West-Asheville for almost two weeks. After 12 days and hundreds of social media posts, shares, and printed flyers, she walked up to a door five miles from home, 10 pounds underweight and wounded, and she asked for help. She was returned to me safely; however, she had sustained severe injuries on her back shoulders (warning: some pictures at the bottom of this post contain graphic injuries).
Initial Cost:
The emergency vet said treatment would cost thousands and that multiple surgeries were likely, including skin grafts, anesthesias, and multiple follow-up visits for months. The other option was to put her to sleep. She’s worth everything to me, so I left with a $2,600 bill.
Continuing Care:
For now, West Asheville Family Vet is continuing her care, and it’s $60 per visit to care for and re-dress her wound. They said she’s healing well, but it’s likely still a couple months to heal, so it's hard to budget. I’m expecting the total cost to be around $5,500, as long as no extensive surgeries are required, and I’m still hopeful there will be none.
How You Can Help:
- Donate if you can. Any amount is greatly appreciated to help Haley’s healing process.
- Share this GoFundMe. Even If you aren’t in the position to donate, sharing this post will spread the word and create awareness for Haley.
I can’t put into words how much this community has already affected our lives over the past two weeks.
Haley and I are extremely grateful for your impact, thoughts, and prayers.
Every bit of support counts, big or small.
Thank you so much for your time and for your help.
