Hi, I appreciate you taking the time to read my story.
I lost my job right before Thanksgiving, 2023. I lived off my credit cards and savings but fell behind on rent. I worked part time doing odd jobs online but couldn't find a job in town.
I wound up losing water service for a few months. Thankfully, friends helped me with laundry and showers. I lost electricity for almost 2 weeks at the end of July, the hottest part of summer. I had to sell my car because I couldn't afford to fix it.
I hit rock bottom but held hope that things would get better. They did.
I got invited back to my old job in September 2024. I'm still there and love it! I'm a CSA + cashier at a large discount store. I'm on my feet all day, work really hard, and love my customers. My hourly wage lets me barely get by - I don't have cable or Internet service, and only keep utilities and cell service. I'm eligible for SNAP. But even with my limited spending, I can't catch up on rent. I'm in danger of eviction and have nowhere to go. I don't have family here, no way to pay a deposit on a new place, and two old cats that I don't want to give up. I can't abandon them.
My rent is $700/month. My back payment is $200/month. Paying $900/month is really hard and I'm often unable to pay that extra $200.
I'm not asking for money to pay all of my bills - I just need to get right with my landlord.
I need to keep this roof above my head. I'm so close to work that I can get rides from a friend I work with. Moving might limit my ability to work full time.
My landlord asked me to turn in my keys on October 12, 2025. That's 10 days from today. I don't know if it's legal but I can't take chances.
Right now, I need to pay some of my back rent. My goal is $3000 but GoFundMe lowers the goal and moves it up in increments. I want to be up front about my goal.
The photos I've uploaded including my old-old cat with the yellow "cone" after an antifungal treatment. There's also the medium-old cat, myself and a breakdown of rent payments up to July 2025, texted to me from the landlord.
I am thankful for any donation you can offer.
Thank you and have a wonderful day or night!
