Hello my name is Katie I am the mother of Chad.  Chad has been diagnosed with a rare condition of hereditary spastic paraparacise thats affects him from the waist down. It has gotten to the point to were it requires extensive surgery.  The surgery will be done at UNC Chapel Hill which is 3 hours from our home .  what will be done is first they will cut part of his pelvic do release the tension to put his hip joint back into the socket.  Next they will cut his femur to untwist his leg.  then they will move muscels around on his foot to bring it back out and last but not least a heel chord extension.  He will remain in the hospital for at least 4 days following surgery.  We are asking for help to assist in the cost of gas, hotel cost and food. Also Chad will be a wheel chair for at least 3 mo afterwards so we will have to install a ramp to assist him.  This would mean so much to us in a way to help out with the extra cost that this will endure with our travels and our ability to stay at his bedside.  they extra food will be for us and also our two other children who will remain behind with my best friend who has stepped out to help us in this difficult time. We will be so thankful to any and all hope that we receive and that one day we can turn around help someone else who is in need.  Thankyou for the time you have spent out of your day to take time to read this and we also ask for prayers as my son goes through this.  His spirits are so uplifted and he is looking forward to the surgery which is scheduled for May 13 2016.  Again Thankyou so much for the time you gave to read this God Bless you   Katie Zimmer
