UGLY BABY is a short film about a young mother who must learn to face her grief, or risk losing herself and those around her.
We at HearHERoar believe in amplifying diverse voices and the power of art to ignite change. This conviction drives our latest project: UGLY BABY, a quirky, tragicomedy/psychological horror short film that courageously explores miscarriage, unresolved grief/trauma, and Reborn Doll Therapy.
We follow Hannah, a young mother introduced to a hyper-realistic Reborn Doll by her partner Keith, after their recent devastating miscarriage. Hannah initially resists, but as the lines between doll and baby begin to blur, her reality unravels. Our impactful film delves into the profound experience of unnamable absence, silent sorrow, and the unpredictable nature of suppressed pain. Through Hannah and Keith's disparate journeys, we explore how grief can fundamentally alter how we love, live, and perceive the world, revealing the often messy and non-linear path to healing.
Your support is crucial to help us bring this vital story to life. Contributions will cover essential production costs, including production design, costumes, and cast/crew meals. Any additional funds will directly reward our talented artists for their tremendous dedication and commitment, and will also help us secure entry for submission to well-known film festivals here in Australia and abroad.
