Program Overview
Hi every one! This past December I was accepted into the France for the Pre-Med Program through the Washington University in St. Louis. This summer from May 25 through June 29, I will have the chance to shadow doctors and take two medical related courses: Physicians, Patients, and Illness in Today's France, and Culture and Public Health in Today's France. The program requires that I speak only in French both when working with doctors and in class.
Of course, this is an AMAZING opportunity, and I am extremely grateful to have been accepted, however, getting in was only the first step! Like every good thing out there, it comes with a price: $5,400 plus another $2,000 for my plane tickets. Financial aid is will not cover any of my expenses, thus, in order to make this dream come true, I took on three jobs this semester, along with my heavy school workload. It has been a HUGE (yet rewarding) struggle, but I'm hoping that you all can help me reach $5,000 through generous donations! Even a dollar goes a long way, and your support would mean the world to me.
As a pre-med student, double majoring in French and Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Education, I've often found it difficult to find programs that combine both French and medicine, and this program does exactly that. This program will give me a unique experience with medicine and the french language, and I expect to gain confidence in my two fields of study, as well as a new perspective on medical application and policies.
