Seven‑year‑old Phenix Ashby‑Shaw has only
been surfing for 12 months, but he’s already
making waves—dominating the U9 and U12
divisions and earning serious recognition for
his talent and dedication.
Under the guidance of coach Eden Hasson,
Phenix is taking on his biggest challenge yet: a
World Record to be the youngest person in the
world to surf from sunrise to sunset. All of this
to raise funds for Eden’s journey to the Pro
Championships and to support his home Surf
Club, Birubi SLSC.
Eden is currently on the QS Tour and climbing
his way through the rankings with the goal of
going to the World Tour (CT). Money raised will
allow him to go to all QS events this year, to
achieve the Challenger series.
Phenix will surf waves from Sunrise to Sunset
without returning to shore, under the watchful
eye of coach Eden, and a support crew of
other Pro Surfers as well as motorised water
craft for safety.
This young powerhouse is turning passion into
purpose, pouring his heart into the waves for
someone who’s believed in him from the start
—rallying the community behind a day of grit,
generosity and friendship.
