Keep on Keeping On!

Next week I’m going back home to Nebraska. This time it’s to do something I’ve been training to tackle for the last 6 months, a 200 mile race covering the Cowboy Trail from Norfolk to Valentine over 4 days. It will be the biggest race or physical challenge I’ve attempted. In order to be crazy enough to do something like this, you have to have a “why”. Much of my desire to do this is because it’s HOME – where I grew up and all the memories and history of growing up in northern Nebraska are pulling me back. It’s also a chance to push myself to do something really hard and to show Lily that we can do really hard things!! Mitch and Lily have already sacrificed so much so I could train and prepare for the race and am so thankful for their love and support of a mama who’s a little nuts.
There have been lots of moments through the heat of the summer months where I thought this might just be too much or maybe the time it was taking wasn’t worth it, but then in the back of my head I heard a small voice tell me to to Keep On Keeping On. Many of you know that 2 years ago we lost one of our dear friends, Craig Riggs, to Glioblastoma. And out of that loss the mantra to KOKO has become incredibly meaningful. There’s so much wrapped up in those 4 letters…
So, in the spirit of Mr. Craig Riggs and his beautiful, resilient, amazing family, I'd like to ask for a favor. Every Spring, Riggs' and the Kansas City softball community host the KOKO softball tournament to raise funds to help support families also fighting because Craig’s desire was to help families find a way to make memories in the midst of it all. Check out some of these incredible stories here: https://www.facebook.com/CraigRiggsKOKO
I can think of no better way to carry the KOKO message forward than to try to move my hiney across 200 miles of northern Nebraska in November! If you want to support my craziness, or if you'd like to donate in Craig's honor or in honor of someone else you know who's been impacted by cancer, please donate to the KOKO foundation. Thank you all for the love and support as I attempt this!!! It’s going to be an epic adventure, no matter what!!!
