Save Kitten's Life

Donation protected
When we adopted Dot "Kit-ten" 3 years ago, we needed her. We had just lost our cat, Jett, a cat from the same litter as Kitten to a collapsed lung and an expensive surgery. Their brother, Cash, was bereft and had stopped eating. Kitten's first owner was moving out of the country and couldn't take her, so fate intervened to bring her to us. We were saddened by the loss of Jett and unsure about bringing another cat into our lives so soon. But she won us over instantly. In the long car ride to bring her home, we could hear her purring loudly over the thump of the tires. When we brought her to the vet, they couldn't even hear her heartbeat she was purring so loudly. She immediately became a member of our family and my husband's "baby girl." It was during the drive to bring Kitten home when I realized that I wanted to marry my (now) husband. We needed her to bring us closer, and she did.

Now, she needs us. Kitten is currently at the emergency medical vet clinic where Jett died. She went in on Saturday night because we suspected that she had a bladder infection. She didn't. It was much worse. Kitten has a kidney infection caused by a kidney stone that is blocking the tube that runs from her kidney to her bladder. She has stones in her other kidney as well, so it is only a matter of time before she is fatally blocked and facing kidney failure. Kitten is only 4 years old, and there are some options that exist to save her life. But we are still paying off Jett's surgery from 3 years ago and have already spent more than $1,500 getting a diagnosis for kitten. We are exploring grant funding and other options, including discount surgery, but so far no one has been able to help us.

I am very active in animal rescue and know that Kitten is just one of many animals who deserve more than we humans can provide, but she is our Kitten, and even though this is impossibly difficult for us to do, we are asking for money to help fund a surgery to restore her kidney function. Because if we don't, we will lose her.

Thanks in advance for whatever you can provide in assistance, including positive thoughts and hugs to whatever pets you hold most dear.
