Just a few weeks after undergoing heart surgery, Brandon and Bre's sweet 7-year-old daughter’s world was turned upside down on Christmas morning.
AvaLeah suffered two sudden brain bleeds, which required immediate, emergency surgery. One of the bleeds blocked the normal flow of fluid around her brain, causing dangerous pressure. Doctors had to place a drainage tube to relieve that pressure and protect her brain.
After the initial surgery, a CT scan showed the bleeding had doubled. AvaLeah was rushed back into surgery where doctors removed a small portion of her skull and evacuated a hemorrhage that was pushing on her brain.
Today, she is still fighting.
Because of the damage caused by the brain bleeds, she is currently unable to stand, sit up, eat, drink, or talk, and she has significantly weakened mobility. She will need extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and time to heal.
She is expected to remain at Children’s Hospital for at least six weeks.
To be there for her every step of the way, Mom and Dad are unable to work. One parent stays at the hospital while the other is home caring for their other children. This requires daily travel back and forth from Johnstown to Children’s Hospital, along with meals, lodging costs, and everyday household expenses that don’t stop during a medical crisis.
The emotional toll has been overwhelming, and the financial strain is growing quickly.
Funds raised will help cover:
-Travel expenses between Johnstown and Children’s Hospital
-Meals and lodging while staying near the hospital
-Lost income while both parents are unable to work
-Ongoing household bills
-Future rehabilitation and recovery needs
If you’re able to donate, share, or keep her in your thoughts and prayers, it means more to the family than they can ever express. Thank you for standing with the family during the hardest season of their lives.
