Long Term Rehab for Luis Vega

Donation protected
I'm Bonnie Coronado, a very close friend of the Vega Family.  I'm taking the initiative to fundraise for my friends as they are going through a difficult situation, both emotionally, and financially.  Luis serves under the US Navy for 18 years, and has deployed to Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Africa.  On his latest assignment in Virginia three months ago, on October 6th, Luis suffered a massive stroke. He underwent an emergency craniectomy  to relieve severe brain swelling and hemorrhage.  As a result, he has traumatic brain injury and the left side of his body is paralyzed.  He is awaiting another surgery to put his right skull flap back.  Meanwhile, he is in Richmond, Virginia undergoing rehabilitation.  It will be a long road to recovery as his prognosis is uncertain, and can take from months to years.  His family is in California and had to fly back and forth to visit during his rehabilitation.  His daughter had to quit her job to be with him in Virginia and help support him during his rehabilitation.  When he is released from the Virginia Veterans facility, he will continue to rehabilitate in Palo Alto.  He is required to receive 24-hour medical care.  The funds will help in his continued care and recovery, as well as, for the family who will have to travel back and forth from their home in Southern California.
