Jacob Hoopes Needs Your Support

Welcome to Jacob Hoopes’ fundraising page. Jacob is in the vulnerable position of having to defend himself against the federal government, in the case of United States of America vs. Robert Jacob Hoopes. Thank you for considering a contribution to alleviate the significant and unexpected expenses that he is incurring as a result of this case.

Six weeks after protesting at the Portland ICE facility, he was arrested at his home by FBI agents and other law enforcement officers at gunpoint. Jacob was then jailed for 72+ hours without being told why he had been arrested. At his hearing on July 28, he was charged with “felony destruction of federal property of $1000 or more,” and “felony assault of a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.” Jacob pleaded Not Guilty.

Jacob is kind, compassionate, sweet, and loving, possessed of an extraordinary generosity of spirit and integrity of character. Thankfully, he has an experienced and respected attorney. The extended Quaker community has responded powerfully. Jacob’s family, friends, and neighbors have been wonderful. Jacob feels loved and supported.
