Hello, my name is Taylor and I am raising funds for my baby Sophie’s dental surgery.
About 3 weeks ago, I realized Soph’s tooth was red around the gum, the next day it looked like it was becoming loose. I took her to Twin Lakes Vet in Orillia and he said she has severe dental disease and will need teeth extracted. Although this is common for elderly cats, she is only 6, so it came as a shock. He said it is hereditary and was likely not preventable. He said it will cost $2800 for any teeth that need to be extracted, it could be all or just a few, but luckily will cost the same regardless. I’ve spent the last couple weekends painting apartment walls to earn money towards the surgery. However, it is not enough, and with the current price of living, I am struggling to come up with the funds. I’m hoping to have this done as soon as possible to help improve her quality of life and ensure there aren’t further complications.
For some background, I adopted Sophie in 2019 from the Georgian Triangle Humane Society. I found out when I adopted her that she was there after someone watched another person throw her out of a car. After recovering from that, she was adopted and then brought back… As soon as I picked her up at the adoption centre, she started purring, and I didn’t even look at any of the other kitties because I knew she was mine. She is goofy, sweet and cuddly and also nervous around new people (just like me).
Just like many others, I began to struggle quite a bit with my mental health when the pandemic began a few months later. Sophie helped me more than I can put words to, shes been there with me through so much. I would do anything for her and I am trying so hard, but I just need to ask for a little help.
If you are able to give anything at all I am so thankful and so is Sophie. I really do not even know how to begin to express what she means to me.
