Hi all! I am usually not a person to express too many personal things on Social Media, however, I want to share something that is weighing heavily on my heart. Outside of my relatives and church family, many of you probably don’t know that last year my dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer.
He almost immediately started chemo to shrink the tumor so the doctors could operate. After several rounds of Chemo, the tumor had shrunk and the oncologist gave the green light for surgery. We as a family breathed a sigh of relief after hearing that. Unfortunately news changed rapidly of his condition, we found that the tumor had grown into critical arteries and the surgeon was unable to remove the tumor.
My parents do have insurance, but the co-pay is significant. If my parents were well funded, and us as his children were well funded, more treatment would be a much easier decision to make.
So, what now? Those of you who have dealt with life threatening ailments, know there is more to this than just having the money, there needs to be wisdom too.
His greatest worry is not dying (he assures us he’s ready), but he’s been very hesitant to seek any more treatment for fear that the medical bills will leave my mom destitute. Cancer treatment is awfully expensive, and the co-pay has accumulated into the thousands of dollars. We as his children are helping all we can, but the bills are beyond us.
He at this time is consulting with doctors for the best plan for pain management going forward.
One of the reasons I am writing this to the Facebook world is because we are setting up a Facebook fundraiser for my parents.
So, if you feel led and would like to help in a very practical way, please donate to the fund.
Also, pray for him for healing and for courage. His name is Charles. Pray also for my mom, Diana, for peace, wisdom and direction through this journey. I am writing this post to gain the support of God’s people. Your prayers are coveted in this.
Please also respond with any encouraging words you might have and “share” with your friends.
Thank you!
Aaron
