New Orleans Musician's Stolen Drums
Donation protected
Fernando Lima is a local New Orleans career musician, and he needs your help. His drum set and all of his equipment was stolen out of our vehicle last night in Central City. The total of all of the equipment was worth about $3,000. Many pieces are near irreplaceable, as he has been building this drum set for many many years. Many pieces came all the way here from his hometown in Brazil, and some he made with his very own hands. Those memories will be lost forever, however we can help him move forward and continue making a living by donating enough for him to purchase the equipment he needs to continue playing and keeping the music alive in our city! Music is his livelihood and only source of making a living in this city. Without his drums, he is lost.
More about Fernando:
Fernando Lima studied music and received a Bachelor's degree at FASM in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he was born and raised. He moved to New Orleans because of his passion for jazz and the city's strong roots in the music world. He has been a resident in New Orleans since 2012, working as a freelance musician and playing with different groups all around the city, including jazz, fusion, rock, funk, latin and world-music groups. He is currently a member of a world-fusion group, Buku Broux, which you can check out at this link https://www.facebook.com/BukuBroux?fref=ts. If you've ever walked around the streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans, you've more than likely seen them playing on Royal or Chartres. He also plays regularly throughout the city with Javier Gutierrez & Vivaz!, Riccardo Crespo and Sol Brasil, and many other groups around New Orleans.
Please show him and everyone else out there that New Orleans cares for and supports our musicians. Just $5 will be more than appreciated. Without them, this city would not be the vibrant and thriving city we know and love. Their music brings people from all over the world to visit and experience the Big Easy that we call home. And more importantly, show our local criminals that although bad things happen to good people, good will always conquer evil and you can't get us down!
Laissez les bon temps rouler!!!!
