I hope this message finds you well. Today, I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share my daughter, Skylar Smith's, journey and the challenges we face. Skylar battles Cerebral Palsy along with numerous medical conditions that require daily care and attention, rendering her unable to work. Without the ability to drive, she’s dependent on me for support, and it pains me to say that we do not receive any assistance, like food stamps, or medical benefits. Recently, Skylar was denied benefits through Social Security under the SSDI program, which has added to our struggle.

I am currently working on finding her a lawyer, but the road ahead may be long and filled with hurdles, as the appeal process can stretch for years, often requiring multiple appeals. As a single mom on a limited fixed income, I find it incredibly challenging to cover her essential medical needs—everything from medication and special leg braces for her Cerebral Palsy to therapy and doctor's co-pays.
