UPDATE: On Thursday, June 12, I had to say goodbye to sweet Ivy as she was too sick following the surgery with debilitating pancreatitis. I am absolutely devastated after having her for 7 years, and she was my beloved companion, but I am thankful that she is no longer suffering. I am now still raising money to cover her vet bills and appreciate all donations in honor of Ivy.
Original:
I’m raising money in memory of my cat Ivy. Ivy had multiple seizures out of the blue and fell into diabetic ketosis back in December. She was hospitalized for four days and was required to have blood transfusions and an insulin drip. She has been back and forth to the vet for the last six months for check-ups, glucose tests, and blood panels, with no clear answer since she wasn’t diabetic but continued to show symptoms of a diabetic cat. She would go through stints of being sick with vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy.
As Ivy continued being sick and the vet not finding anything wrong, I decided to take her to a new vet for another opinion. They reviewed her history and were also puzzled so they recommended doing an ultrasound and a few more blood tests to look deeper into what might be going on. The ultrasound showed a growth in her pancreas that they couldn’t identify but needed to be removed and biopsied. This surgery is going to cost $11k, with treatment and recovery bills following, on top of the previous $20k spent totaling about $30k.
I've had Ivy since 2018 and she's been with me in three cities, two moves, and is my baby. While I will continue to pay for her treatment, it's been very taxing on finances and credit cards, and I appreciate any help to cover her surgery!
