Help My Dad Fight Cancer

Donation protected

My dad is a loving husband, father and brother. His heart is full of kindness and love for people. He is the type of man that will help anyone out as much as he can with what he is capable of. My dad is the type of person that enjoys the company of his loved ones. He enjoys making good joyful memories. He loves to bring joy and laughter to the people he surrounds himself with.

Recently our father became ill of what seemed to be a common stomach flu/virus. A couple of days later he began to get sicker, so our family took him to two different clinics where he was prescribed medications related to a stomach flu/virus. As time progressed, our father did not seem to get better and was then taken to the ER. After a CT scan the doctors found a tumor. The doctors performed a biopsy and the result of the tumor samples were malignant. Our father was diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer. After diagnosis, our family struggled to get our dad into chemotherapy because of insurance coverage. Our father was rejected for medical and our family had to purchase a plan through Covered California to proceed and open his possibilities of care. Our family was hoping for a hospital to hospital transfer to make the transition for our father as smooth as possible. However, the process would be too long and there were not any appropriate resources or help that our father needed at the hospital he was first hospital he was admitted to.

After one week of being hospitalized and another week after he was diagnosed, our family discharged him and drove him to the ER of a different hospital that would have as many specialists as possible. The reason for his discharge was due to our family feeling and seeing that his health seemed to be deteriorating. Despite sharing our concerns with doctors and nurses, we were told his lab results specifically pertaining to his liver and kidneys were fine.

The day our family decided to discharge him and walk into the ER of a more resourceful hospital we found out we could not begin chemotherapy to treat the cancer. This news was a result of his kidneys not being in their best state and our father being at risk of liver failure. Recently the doctors gave us good news that his kidneys were improving, but are awaiting for tests to determine the cause for the delicate state of our father’s liver.

Today our family Prays and Hope’s that the doctors who are working hard to stabilize his health where he is currently admitted are able to accomplish his health stabilization enough to be able to start chemotherapy, thus be able to extend the life span of our father Dalio; a loving, kind, caring, hardworking and giving husband, father and brother.

Our family has been recently hit with this unexpected news. Our father has always been strong, active, healthy looking man. This news was shocking to our immediate and extended family. We know this journey is hard and the expenses for the treatment and stabilization our dad needs are highly expensive. Whatever amount of help you can provide we would greatly appreciate it.

The use for these funds would be used to cover the rest of the expenses for our father’s treatments and hospitalization for the days that he was not covered by insurance. These funds will also be used to help our family for future expenses related to our father’s treatments. Another use for the funds will be used to pay our father’s monthly insurance coverage payment and deductibles.
