Un aiuto per Duccio

Ciao a tutti, mi chiamo Duccio e sono un esemplare di Setter Inglese di circa 8 anni di età. Per anni sono stato usato per la caccia, non mi hanno mai curato e fatto profilassi, poi come hanno visto che non performavo più a causa della mia malattia mi hanno abbandonato.

Sono stato accolto al Parco Canile "La Valle Incantata" di Lajatico (Pisa). I miei nuovi amici volontari si sono accorti presto che non sto bene, a seguito di controlli è emerso che sono positivo alla leishmaniosi ma soprattutto che ho una grave filaria. Per questo motivo la veterinaria ha contattato la Clinica Cardiologica "Anicura" di Novara per i cagnolini come me, mi hanno detto che possono operarmi per rimuovere le filarie e garantirmi una buona vita per gli anni che mi rimangono. Nella mia condizione attuale dicono che è importante venga operato presto, la situazione è GRAVE.

Mi affatico tanto quando esco, il caldo di questa estate sicuramente non aiuta. Il sogno è tornare velocemente a stare bene e poi trovare adozione.

L'intervento che devo affrontare è molto oneroso: servono in totale 3000 euro, cifra necessaria per saldare la clinica + coprire le spese di un volontario che mi porti a Novara due giorni (benzina, autostrada e alloggio per una notte) perché mi dovranno ricoverare e rimanere sotto osservazione dopo il mio intervento.

Hello everyone, my name is Duccio and I'm an English Setter, about 8 years old. For years, I was used for hunting; they never treated me or gave me any prophylaxis. Then, when they saw I was no longer performing well due to my illness, they abandoned me.

I was taken by Parco Canile "La Valle Incantata" in Lajatico (Pisa). My new volunteer friends quickly noticed that I wasn't well. After tests, they found that I had leishmaniasis, but more importantly, I had a serious heartworm infection. For this reason, the vet contacted the "Anicura" Cardiology Clinic in Novara, which specializes in dogs like me. They told me they could operate to remove the heartworms and guarantee me a good life for the next years. Given my current condition, they say it's important to have surgery soon; the situation is SERIOUS.

I get really tired when I go out; this summer's heat certainly doesn't help. My dream is to get well again quickly and then find a home.

The surgery I'm undergoing is very expensive: a total of €3,000 is needed to pay for the clinic and cover the costs of a volunteer to drive me to Novara for two days (gas, highway tolls, and one night's accommodations) because I'll need to be hospitalized and kept under observation after my surgery.
