Please help us help Patricia! Patricia served over 10 years in prison due to her addiction. When she got out she made a decision to do something different with her life and came to Redirection-NC, transitional housing for women justice involved. While with us she completed an employment and life skill training program. She was able to get and maintain a job, get her drivers license back and purchase a car. Unfortunately, Patricia has had many roadblocks that are out of her control. She had a stroke at Christmas 2019 but that did not break her down. With physical therapy she was able to get back to work within a month. Shortly there after she was laid off due to COVID and used her saving to survive until her cleaning job at a local university started back. She was able to transition to an apartment with a friend two months ago. We helped her get furniture and household items to make it look like a home. But being on her feet everyday, all day caused her to get sores on her feet. Patricia has diabetes that she has had since she was a child and has no insurance - her job doesn't offer it . Without insurance she has now had 3 surgeries - 1 toe then 2 toes then half a foot and now the infection is in her blood. Antibiotic medications cost $10,000 for every 4 bags because it doesn't come in pill form and she needs them for 4 to 6 weeks or she could end up loosing her leg. She has worked so hard at becoming a productive member of society. We always say our ladies don’t need a hand out but a hand up. Unfortunately she does need a hand out now - Wont you help her? Please!
