Hi, my name is Erin and for those that know me know that I have been battling cancer for several years now. Recently, after numerous scans, surgeries, MRIs, and biopsies it was confirmed that the cancer has returned and has spread to multiple areas of my face. My oncologist in Gainesville have coordinated with the oncologist in Jacksonville and have determined the best plan and course of treatment is proton radiation therapy combined with chemotherapy. The radiation treatment will be performed at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, Florida. The treatment is 5 days a week for 7 weeks combined with 1 day of week for 7 weeks of chemotherapy treatment. I am scheduled to start treatment on Monday, June 21.
I am a single mom with an elderly mom who lives with us. We live in Alachua, Florida and the treatments are in Jacksonville, Florida (about 1 hr 20 mins each way). The costs associated with the care coupled with the expenses incurred due to being possibly relocating to Jacksonville for the course of the treatment or car rental to get back and forth are overwhelming.
My family truly appreciates all the love, support, and prayers offered thus far, but we are now asking if you can provide some financial assistance for hotel costs or car to be used to get back and forth during treatment.
