Lola’s Heart Surgery
Hi everyone,
My name is Jess and this is my 4 month old puppy Lola. She is a toy cavoodle and needs all the help she can get. Lola was a rescue dog as she was struggling to find a good home and was on the path of being put down, as she has congenital heart disease. She was born with a stage 5 heart murmur and has been diagnosed with PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus).
This is a condition where the failure of the ductus arteriosus muscle is to constrict, leaving a passage way for blood flow and resulting in eventual left-sided heart disease and heart failure. This means Lola’s little heart has to work harder, as her heart has increased work to pump blood around her body.
Treatment for this condition is highly recommended, as up to 50% of dogs with PDA’s will not make it before 12 months of age. I have taken her to get an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) and the professionals have advised me with the surgery that will have to be performed.
We have to wait for 3 months time to perform this as she needs to be 4kgs or bigger to perform surgery as she is too small at this time. The surgery is called MIS (minimally invasive surgery) which will give her the best outcome to live a long healthy life. Without this, Lola may not make it as her heart murmur is so strong and could fail at any given time.
The only thing standing between me and helping Lola is the cost of this surgery is $6000. Her heart ultrasound was $900 alone, and I am willing to do all I can to save my little girls life. I’m asking for any help I can get, any donation is greatly appreciated as I can’t afford to pay this alone. Whatever is raised for her is going straight to Lola and her heart surgery and I am willing to do everything in my power to ensure she has the best chance of surviving this horrible disease.
Lola and I have spent every day together for the past 3 months, we have grown such a beautiful bond and I would hate to see something terrible ever happen to her. She has become my best friend, she helped me through all of COVID-19 and kept such a bright happy light in my life and I want nothing but a long, happy, healthy life for her. Anyone who has met Lola is touched by her vibrant, loving personality and is smothered with puppy kisses. She wants nothing more than to be cuddled and to be everyones best friend.
Any donation, no matter how small will mean so much to me, so please help me save my beautiful little Lola as she means the world to me.
