Jerry's New Wheelchair
Meet Jerry, he is a very happy outgoing person. Unfortunately 12 years ago he was shot which paralyzed him changing his life forever. Despite having a bullet in his spine he didn't let it bring him down. He now plays wheelchair shoftball and mentors new players or newly injured people and helps them cope. He enjoys fishing and NASCAR and spending time with family and friends. This past year has been very rough for him with having a pressure sore and one road bock after another with infections. He just under went surgery to correct the wound and is currently recovering in the hospital after a few more road blocks. While being in the hospital we took the opportunity to take his chair to the repair shop for some MUCH NEEDED repairs only to find out his beloved chair of 11 years was discontinued 6 years ago and as of 3 years ago they are no longer able to get parts for it. We are now left with the challenge of getting a new chair and covering the remaining out of pocket cost with an extremely limited income that Medicaid will not pick up after the small amount covered by Medicare. Anything you may be able to help with, thank you in advance and if your aren't able to help but pass it on thank you and God bless.
