I’m writing this trying to be there for a friend and former co-worker. She needs a bit of help as she journeys through Breast Cancer (Stage 4) for the second time in her life.
LISA is also a mother, a daughter, a wife, a sister, a friend and A BUFFALO BILLS fan--of course.
Lisa had a shoulder injury at work at which time she went on Disability from her job. Two days prior to her surgery she found out she had cancer. She has now “phased out” of the time she can receive her ongoing medical Insurance. The company provided her with one extra month of insurance which ends October 31, 2025.
Lisa’s medical insurance through her full-time job provided her with most of her necessary care to provide the cancer treatment she NEEDS, until now.
Beginning November 1st she will be paying $911 monthly just to keep her insurance. Without it she would need to pay $12,000 weekly just for her chemo treatments. She has applied for Social Security Disability but unsure how long it will take.
Not including living expenses and other medical/every day needs necessary for her survival (medications, specialty drinks such as Boost and Powerade with electrolytes). She is unable to eat a regular diet and has very little appetite.
After some planning (as best as she can under the circumstances) I’m asking anyone who can help with any financial gifts for her to continue to live without constant worry of how to afford her necessary treatment.
Hopefully by the beginning of the new year her disability claim will be approved. I feel she falls into the category we all know so well. Described as “middle class”. Not “poor enough” for public assistance but not “rich enough” to cover these unforeseen expenses. I know many of you can relate to this serrano, just as I can.
She and her husband live one day at a time. He is continuing to work full-time but it’s not enough. He also lost his medical insurance since he was on her coverage. They have cut out all unnecessary expenses.
I hope some of you who have taken the time to read this will be able to help financially. If not financially sending, healing and much needed prayers as they navigate their way to hopefully get her through this crisis and give her another chance at life. Thanks in advance for your support.
