Help Adrienne get her surgery!

UPDATE::  Hi everyone! My first surgery went well! I was able to come home last night. They were able to remove all the old hardware so know it’s just the healing process!  I have to keep the braces on for 18-24 months before the big surgery!!  Thanks everyone who has reached out! I really appreciate all the love and support!

Hi everyone, this is for my wife Adrienne Ronco. She is a very loving, sweet and independent woman who doesn’t like to ask for help, so as her husband I’m writing this for her in hopes to get her something that she’s always wanted. She was a little embarrassed to make a page for herself but she deserves this surgery, and I know all of her friends and family will understand.

Adrienne was born with, Hemi-Facial Micro-Somia Type IIB. Meaning, she was born without her jawbone connected to her skull. If you know her, I’m sure you’ve asked yourself what had happened. She doesn’t really talk about it unless someone asks. She has had multiple surgeries growing up and all of them have failed for one reason or another. She decided to stop looking for someone that could straighten out her jaw and chin. But during a doctors’ appointment she found out that there is a doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston that specializes in this type of surgery. So far she has had 3 appointments at MGH where they’ve talked about what they could do and how long it will take. First thing she has to do is get braces again, then she’ll have her first surgery in October where they will remove all the hardware they’ve put in her over the years, and then after healing and straightening out her teeth she will have her big reconstructive surgery on her jaw!

That being said, we’ve called our insurance company and, as of right now they will not cover any of these surgeries or braces. Because to them it is “cosmetic” and not medical, which her doctors have said she was born this way and it is indeed medical. We are hoping the doctors’ will do a better write up about the surgeries and they will except it, but in the mean time Adrienne will be trying her best to save money on her own to pay for these expenses. This money will also help with her monthly expenses: daycare, car, insurance, and as she’s self employed she has to make sure she keeps up with that also! Of course I will help her with what she needs but every little bit will help!

Anything will truly help for her to get her surgery! She’s been waiting for this for a long time. Her last surgery was in 2005.

Both Adrienne and I appreciate everything you guys are willing to give. And of course if you know either of us and have more questions you are definitely welcome to contact us.

Thanks everyone!
