April 7th dad had an MRI done and was sent home on the way home my mom received a call from the imaging place telling her to take him straight to the nearest hospital. They got to the hospital and started running labs and talked with the on call neurologist who said dad needed to be transferred to a different hospital.
After getting to the new hospital they drilled a hole in the top of dad's head to relieve the pressure and swelling that was going on inside his brain. The MRI showed that there were 2 leisons on his brain. One at the base of his skull and one further in.
On April 8th they took dad to get a CT scan and found something in his colon. He was his normal self just sore and raspy. His blood pressure was a little high compared to normal other than that labs and everything was good.
April 11th dad had brain surgery to remove masses they could get to and biopsy them. Surgery went well they removed the ones they could get to and placed a chemotherapy disc inside his head as a precaution. He got really sick coming off of anesthesia. After the surgery we were informed that there was a mass found on dad's trachea.
April 14th dad had a surgery to put a shunt in his brain to help drain the excess fluid off his brain. Surgery went great and was really quick. Dad didn't get sick from the anesthesia this time so that was good. We did get the biopsy results back and was told he has metastatic cancer. Dad couldn't remember what kind.
April 15th dad's neurosurgeon came in checking on dad and the pressure in his head. He told us that dad has metastatic lung cancer.
He is supposed to be discharged from the hospital soon and will do an outpatient procedure for the mass on his trachea. Then we will contact oncology and figure out our next steps.
We need all the prayers we can get. My dad is such an amazing and loving person. This is incredibly hard for us and are asking for any help we can get! Let's help dad beat this beast!
