Realizing the needs that Laura has now and will need in the future, the family and their friends are asking for your help. Their house is in need of adaptation. They need a barrier-free home, with a zero-entry bathroom, to allow Laura the ability to shower with less help and more grace. They need to replace the existing carpet with laminate flooring and add an outdoor ramp or ramps to ease the movement of Laura's wheelchair. They are looking into acquiring a mobility van or to adapt their current vehicle for her wheelchair, as well. Art has been physically lifting her in and out of their truck, which is getting harder on them both. They are also looking into the possibility of hiring a personal aide to look after Laura and assist her with her self-care on a part-time basis, which their insurance will not cover.
Laura and her family are truly beautiful people. They will help anyone out in whatever way they are able. As dependent as her life has become, Laura never complains, always has a smile on her face and a kind word on her lips.
We are asking for everyone and anyone's help, to help them change her life for the better...to one that she deserves.
**If there are any contractors in the Macomb, MI area that would be willing and able to help them, it would be very much appreciated.**
