Finn’s fight for life ❤️‍

To our sweet family and friends,

 

We are so happy that we have the beautiful blessing of our third baby boy, Finnegan Dunwoodie. We didn’t know we would be parents of three ever and we always struggled with “one more” or “we are so blessed already”. This past year we found it in our hearts that we would give it another shot, our kids are our entire world, our worth, and the best decision we have both ever made was to become parents. Younger than most but so so rewarding.

When we found out there were two pink lines back in may, we both had tears of joy and the realization that we are doing this again!!

 

This pregnancy has been HARD. From immense morning sickness to a subchorionic hemorrhage early on that terrified us but eventually resolved on its own. Many genetic tests that most pregnant women go through all to come back normal by the grace of God.

 

We didn’t however find ourselves so “lucky” at our 20 week anatomy scan. A day that started in such JOY as we saw our little guys face for the first time and his wiggles and kicks turned to horror as we got a diagnosis of Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. An incurable heart defect that is only “managed” by a series of surgeries, many many hospital visits, medicines for life, and possible heart transplant. After going to the Pediactric cardiologist to get a confirmation of diagnosis, we were hit with even more of a shock. It’s not Hypoplastic left heart but it’s Hypoplastic RIGHT heart syndrome. A diagnosis only given to 1 in 60,000 pregnancies. Floored, shocked, and confused. Our beautiful little baby will fight for his life hours to days after he is born.

 

So I come to you guys for hope and help through the many hospital stays, travel to and from Gainesville where I will have to be induced and deliver Finn due to their nicu/picu and amazing team of heart doctors, to time off work, the many bills that have rolled in already due to the high risk nature of my pregnancy.

 

I am asking for no gifts or a shower for Finn but whatever you feel would help us ease the burden, we would greatly appreciate it.

 

Our family is Finn strong and we will see this through. We cannot wait to meet this baby boy and heart warrior.
