Hello everyone. Please read this on behalf of my sister Kim, her fiancé Steve and their fur baby, Freya.
In the week leading up to Thanksgiving, Freya developed a wheezing condition that was horribly distressing. They took her to an emergency vet and her primary vet, and no one could tell what was wrong. They finally took her to a specialist who performed a scope procedure and CT scan to find a large mass that filled 90% of her trachea. They were terrified to receive this news and feared they would have to let Freya go. Kim and Steve were so fortunate to find a specialist who was able to remove most of the mass and send it away for a biopsy. This procedure, while very successful has only bought Freya a few months of her precious life.
The biopsy came back malignant (though thankfully not metastatic yet) with a rare type of sarcoma that if left untreated will end her life.
Freya is too happy, too loved, and too important to the family to leave this world at 6 years old, especially when she can receive a curative surgery that will give her a full lifespan. She is scheduled for a surgery on Jan. 9 that will remove the affected portion of her trachea granting her a full and vibrant life.
Freya means everything to Kim. After learning that she is unable to carry a child of her own, Kim has invested all of her maternal love and care into her sweet Freya which has filled a deep void in her. Freya has seen Kim through the most heartbreaking times of her adult life, and has been her loyal and loving companion.
When Steve’s mother was sick and he was home on leave to navigate her illness, it was Freya who was there to comfort him while Kim worked. Steve may not have come out of that tough time in his life as gracefully as he did had it not been for Freya’s nurturing playfulness and the bond they formed.
Freya is playful, charmingly chaotic, protective, dutiful, and brilliant.
Please help Kim and Steve give Freya the rest of her life so she can continue to bless them with her loving presence and healing quirks. Any little bit will help.
Thank you so much for your compassion and consideration
