Meghan McKinney Memorial Fund

Yesterday Slippery Rock Field Hockey Alumni received devastating news that our teammate and friend Meghan "Wheels" McKinney was killed in a motor vehicle accident. We decided to start a GoFundMe to help her family during this difficult time. The funds raised will be used to help with final arrangements or a donation to the local animal shelter she volunteered at. She was one of the hardest workers any of us ever had the opportunity to meet. Wheels was a great teammate and an even better friend.

Lisa Belcastro was able to put into words what we all though of Wheels
"We called you Wheels... You know how you get a nick name like Wheels? You have to bust your ass from the millisecond coach blows her whistle. You have to some how be faster at the end than you were at the beginning of a 100 yard sprint. You have to be the type of player that ALWAYS shuts down the other teams striker on a penalty corner. You have have to be the player that, when every other person on the team is sucking wind, will stand tall and take whatever conditioning sprints where thrown our way.
"Wheels" was more than a name, it was a badge of Honor that every single day you lived up to Meg. You made me and everyone else around you better on and off the field. You were the player that always, without a doubt "fought for that inch, clawed with your finger nails for that inch".
Wheels, I'm going through my head and trying to make any sense of this and I can't. You are so damn smart, such a hard worker, and so loyal. I don't understand this and I never will, but please know that I will carry you and your work ethic with me everyday. When life feels like I just don't have any more sprint left in me, I will look down the end line and see you standing tall. Just like in college that will be my motivation to keep going.
Slip Rock Hock, every single one of you are in my heart. Life has pulled us different ways, but not a day passes where I'm not thankful for what we shared."

No amount of money can bring this amazing person back, but it can help give her a proper goodbye. She was taken way too soon in life, but she will always be in our hearts and minds. Her memory will live on with all those who had the honor of knowing her. Any amount would help assist her family in this time of grieving. Please help us raise money to honor her memory.
