Maggie's Memory

.Maggie Skeide, an amazing person, wife, mother and friend. I met Travis and Maggie some years back through my job. I had the privilege through this to spend time with them and get to know them personally. I was introduced to their children and stayed in touch with them, getting updates on how they were doing. They have a special place in my heart. Maggie will be missed so very much. Maggie passed away while doing what Maggie does, helping others. Travis’ brother was in the Mayo Clinic recovering from surgery, so Maggie went to Bismark, North Dakota, to help care for his children. In 2019 she was in the hospital on and off over the course of the year. Test after test, after test without answers. Although they knew something was wrong, they did not know what. When it seemed hopeless, Maggie was a fighter so she found a way to get an appointment at the Mayo Clinic. After numerous tests and time in the hospital, they diagnosed her with phechromocytoma. Essentially, Maggie had a tumor on her adrenal gland that caused her heart rate to sky rocket to astronomical levels. Unfortunately, by the time they finally figured out what was wrong with her, her heart had already suffered irreparable damage. She was in heart failure, and they could not stop it. Maggie’s bright spirit still shone bright but was a little dimmer after such devastating news. I cannot imagine how she must have felt when she realized that her quality of life would never be great. Maggie couldn’t walk 15 steps without stopping to catch her breath. And I remember her telling me several times that she missed being able to be an active mom for Gracie and Josh. She loved her children more than I can write in words. I remember the last conversation I had with Maggie; she once again was helping someone else. Because of her health problems, Maggie could not work the last few years of her life. She was bothered by the fact that she could not contribute financially to the household. Travis worked full time trying to keep a roof over his families head. He would often come home from his full-time job just to leave again and deliver Door Dash so all the bills could get paid. On many occasions, Maggie would ride along so they could spend some time together. With this unexpected passing, her family needs caring people to help with the financial costs. To further complicate things and add additional fees, Maggie passed away in North Dakota so her husband and children were forced to say their goodbyes in North Dakota. They could not afford the expense of having her brought home to have a proper funeral.

I pray that those of us who are fortunate can find it in our hearts to help Travis, Josh and Gracie through the most empty difficult time of their lives. Please consider giving to this wonderful family.
