Progress With Parkinsons
Donation protected
I was diagnosed in 2018 with Parkinsons. For the next two years, I was in denial , pain, confusion mental and physical anguish. Then I met the most wonderful Parkinsons' support group in Lafayette La. who quickly became family to me. The support group was once a month and it was very informative. At the time I was working as the operations manager and tour guide at Mcgees Swamp Tours. Two years later my father's health was declining and so was mine so we decided to move back to Westlake. All the time wondering what I was going to do. In October I had ankle surgery and while recovering I prayed about it and knew what I wanted to do. I decided to get my certification with ISSA as a nutritionist, personal trainer and personal coach. I spoke to the recreation center here in Westlake and asked them if it would be possible to use the center to do a monthly support group and possibly use the aerobics room for Parkinson's patients and veterans who want to come back and train for free. I started this account in hopes of getting my Parkinsons' patients a better way of life by getting wheelchairs, walkers, canes, exercise equipment and free classes during the week. Also providing educational materials. To have the opportunity to start Rock Steady Boxing . I will also be traveling going to conferences, going to veterans homes and nursing homes, and speaking where people can't get out and I will go to them. I have learned that there are a lot of people in Southwest La that have very little knowledge of what Parkinsons' is and what it does to your body. My goal is to give people with Parkinson's an opportunity for a better quality of life.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
