Many of you know & love Mike & Laura- not only for their excellence in the world of combat sports, but for the way they have poured themselves out for others through their lives, business, & ministry efforts.

Recently, Mike suffered a medical emergency causing him to lose his vision. After an ER visit, a couple of nights spent in the ICU & several tests done, the doctors diagnosed him with damage to his left cranial nerve 6. Additionally, they found a tare on his cervical spine membrane causing a leak of fluid. After being discharged & getting a second opinion, it’s been discovered that Mike actually suffered a small medial right thalamus stroke. As a result, he was placed on mandatory bed rest & unable to coach or work for an unseen amount of time. He has a lot of medical appointments coming up to make a plan for the best path forward. This unexpected health crisis has brought both physical & financial challenges, especially as Mike & Laura are new business owners and have not acquired health insurance, and pay out of pocket for all medical expenses. While Mike focuses on healing & recovery, we want to rally together as a Body of Christ & community to help shoulder this burden with them.

As owners of Glory Combat Sports & Fitness, their hearts are to see people, “Live their best, be their best & live transformed lives through combat sports and their faith in Jesus.” They have built a space where people are encouraged not only in strength & discipline, but in faith & community. Week after week, they cultivate an encouraging atmosphere providing 25 classes, one on one training, and in addition mentor men and woman individually while hosting weekend Bible studies.

They are also a chapter of Gathering of Neighbors, a growing network of micro church expressions meeting around fires in campgrounds, homes, restaurants, & even on the streets to bring the true gospel of Jesus Christ to people where they are. I have had the privilege & joy of coaching & mentoring Laura over the last several months, & I have heard their deep commitment to the Lord & to serving others.

Now, it’s our turn to give back. Mike & Laura have invested their lives into building others up- spiritually, physically, & emotionally. Let’s wrap our arms around them as the Body of Christ & as a community, showing them they are not alone in this fight.
