Support Cory's Journey to Recovery

As most of you know, our brother Cory has been going through major medical issues over the past few months. Cory went to the ER on December 9 because he was having a hard time breathing. He was admitted to Regions Hospital to have a procedure done to remove extensive blood clots from his lungs. His heart stopped during the procedure and there were a series of urgent complications that happened as they tried to get his heart going again, which ultimately culminated in them having to open his chest and placing him on an ECMO (life support) machine to function for his heart and a Ventilator to help him breathe. In the following days, they added ECMO support for his lungs as well, which were very damaged by the clots (which are still unable to be removed). He was eventually able to come off the ECMO machines and later off the ventilator, but he remains on Oxygen due to continued blood clots and damage in his lungs. Cory was in the ICU at Regions for 43 days, then at Bethesda Long Term Acute Care Hospital for 24 days, and has now been in the Acute Rehab Unit at Regions for 18 days (and counting). We are so thankful that he has made it through the most uncertain moments and is working on getting back on his feet and eventually back home. We are also endlessly thankful that throughout all of this, we’ve been surrounded by the immense care and support of our community. We can’t express our gratitude enough for all of you who have been there for Cory and our family through your prayers, words, and time.
As Cory continues on his journey toward healing, we want to help him focus on his health without having to worry about the financial impacts of all of this. In addition to the medical bills and the time off work during his hospitalization over the past 11+ weeks, Cory will be unable to return to work once he gets home as he continues to need rehabilitation to regain his health and strength. With that in mind, we are reaching out to you for help. We are hoping to pull together funds to assist with expenses and covering lost wages so Cory can put his focus into getting better. Any amount is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration and support,
