Honey is not just a cat. She is a little girl’s closest friend, a loyal companion to a dog bravely fighting cancer, and a deeply cherished member of her family. When this family adopted Honey from Kai’s Place back in February, they opened their hearts to her completely.

Last night, Brittany received a frantic call no pet parent ever wants to hear. Honey had suffered a sudden, devastating accident—her back leg twisted and hanging, leaving her in unbearable pain. She hid under the couch, as if preparing to slip away. Thankfully, the family found her just in time and rushed her to VEG, where they learned her pelvis is cracked and her leg is broken. The vets have two possible paths: attempt to pin the leg or, if that’s not possible once they begin surgery, move to amputation.

This heartbreak comes on the heels of more sorrow and strain. Less than 30 days ago, they said goodbye to another beloved pet of 14 years. Shortly before that, their home flooded, causing significant damage that insurance will not cover. The emotional and financial weight on this family has been overwhelming.

We are putting this together in hope that, as a community, we can help lift some of that burden—help give Honey the care she desperately needs, and help give a little girl her best friend back.
