Hi. My name is Tracy Patino. I am a nurse practitioner in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The PICU is my home away from home and I am blessed to have an incredible PICU family. One of my coworkers, Sydney Petty is currently fighting for her life and could use all the prayers, good vibes and support that she can get. 

Sydney Petty is a fairly new nurse practitioner, but in a short amount of time became a valued team member in our PICU. She is kind and soft spoken but is confident in her abilities and is one of the most organized and efficient people I have ever met. 

Sydney married her best friend, Joseph Petty in 2020 and was blessed to become pregnant in 2022. Sydney and Joseph welcomed Zeke on 9/24 and it was the happiest day of their lives, but 4 days later, their joy quickly became shock and despair when Sydney was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  Sydney should be spending her days caring for her newborn but instead has been in and out of the hospital and been dealing with a cancer that has not been responding to traditional treatments and significant side effects from the chemo. Through all this, she has still been an incredible mother to Zeke and Joseph has been her rock. Unfortunately, Sydney’s fight is far from over as she will be getting a bone marrow transplant in April. 

Sydney is one of the strongest people I have met. She is usually the one doing for others, but now her family could use lots of prayers and support.
